How Often Do Lawyers Contact Their Clients?

|

Attorney-client communication is an essential component of providing effective legal services.  While an attorney may not always have an immediate answer or an answer that the client desires to hear, an attorney should always provide timely, pertinent information to each of his or her clients.  Every attorney will have his or her own policy with regard to how often lawyers contact their clients.  In order to prevent misunderstandings over communication with the client, an attorney should inform clients what to expect regarding the type and frequency of communications as soon as the client retains the law firm.

When Should Lawyers Contact Their Clients?

How often lawyers contact their clients depends greatly on the type of case that the lawyer is handling for the client.  For example, if an attorney is preparing a Last Will and Testament for a client, he may only need to contact the client once or twice during the entire process.  However, for a client facing a criminal charge, the attorney may need to contact the client on numerous occasions as the attorney investigates the alleged criminal charges and prepares a defense for the client.

In the early days and weeks of a case, the attorney may need to communicate more often with a client as evidence is discovered and the attorney needs more information from the client. However, once the case is ready for trial, there may be nothing new to communicate because the attorney can do nothing more until the case reaches the top of the trial docket. Regardless of the type of case that you have, you deserve to receive prompt answers to your questions and inquiries.

We Take Attorney-Client Communication Very Seriously

The attorneys of The Trevor J. Avery Law Firm, LLP are committed to providing our clients with exceptional service and support.  We understand that handling a legal problem can be very emotional.  You may have a great deal of anxiety and apprehension about the possible outcomes in your case.  We also understand that you have many questions about your case and the legal process used to handle your case.

Our attorneys strive to take as many telephone calls, answer as many questions and address as many concerns as we can each day.  However, there will be times when we are in court or with other clients and we will not be able to respond to you immediately.  This is one reason we have a staff of high-trained legal professionals to help us communicate with our clients when we cannot personally do so.  This helps clients feel more at ease and it helps us keep our clients informed of every development in their case.

When you retain our office, you will meet our staff as well as our attorneys so that you are familiar with all of the individuals working on your case.  If you have questions or concerns, you can contact our office at any time to speak with an attorney or one of our staff members.
